Nalagarh Fort was built in 1421 during the reign of Raja Bikram Chand. It was ruled by the Chandra Rajputs who originated from Chanderi in the Bundelkhand region of Central India. The fort is located on a hillock at the foothills of the Himalayas, surrounded by endless acres of greenery. Replete with all modern amenities, Fort Nalagarh is an ideal retreat away from the madding crowd. Nalagarh is the gateway to Himachal Pradesh in North India, 300 km north of Delhi and 60 km from Chandigarh. The Fort is located on a hillock at the foothills of the Himalayas affroding a panoramic view of the shivalik Hills beyond the Sirsa river. The famous Naina Devi Temple is 60 kms from the Fort and is visible from the ramparts on a clear day. The 16th centuary Ramgarh Fort, only 21 kilometres from Nalagarh, is another excellent excurion from Nalagarh.
