Attractions:
UNA is situated on the bank of river Swan which is the tributary of
River Satluj. Una is a district of Himachal Pradesh which lies in
its south western part. Una has been carved out of Hoshiarpur
district of Punjab in 1966 where the hilly areas of Punjab were
transferred to Himachal Pradesh and the whole area is warm. It has
borders with Kangra, Hamirpur and Bilaspur and then acts as a
gateway to these regions. The famous places of Una are Chintpurni
Goddess temple, Dera Baba Bharbhag Singh, Dera Baba Rudru, Joggi
Panga, Dharamshala Mahanta, Dhunsar Mahadev Temple Talmehra and
Shivbari Temple Gagret.
Una district is well developed in the industrial sector due to close
proximity to Punjab.
Mehatpur, Gagret, Tahliwal & Amb are main industrial centers of Una.
GENERAL INFORMATION
CLOTHING: Cotton clothes in Summer and light woolen in winter.
LANGUAGE: Hindi, Punjabi, English are understood and spoken by the
people engaged in tourism trade. Other language that is commonly
spoken is Pahari.
APPROACH
BY RAIL: On 11th January 1991, Una has been provided with railway
line by laying 14 Kms broad gauge track from Nangal (Punjab) to Una.
Himachal Express train connects Una to Delhi. Both Air conditioned
coach & sleeper class coaches are attached to this train. The trains
deploys daily on the route and timings of the same are
BY ROAD: Una is approachable by road from Shimla, Chandigarh,
Hoshiarpur and Pathankot. All major transport buses ply on this
route. It is also a major stopover point for journey to Dharamshala,
McLeodganj, Palampur, Hamirpur, Chintpurni, Jawala Ji, Baba Balak
Nath, Pir Nigaha, Anandpur Sahib, Naina Devi Temple, Bhakra Nangal
Dam, Baba Rudru Temple.

SIGHT SEEING:
CHINTPURNI TEMPLE ( 55 Kms )
This is the place where Sati's feet fell off became sanctified as
Chintapurni. It is located on Dharamshala-Hoshiarpur road on a ridge.
Thousands of devotees visit this temple. It is believed that one who
prays here ardently, is relieved of all his worries and his wishes are
granted. The main fair is held during the 10 days of "Shukalpaksh" in
August, in addition to many religious festivals. There is a Yatri
Niwas which is managed by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development
Corporation.
BANGANA-LATHIANI ( 28 Kms )
This area falls on the Una Barsar-Hamirpur road. Piplu is situated on
the top of Sola Singh Dhar from where the view of Gobind-Sagar is
fascinating. This area can attract tourist during winter season
especially, when they propose to visit other religious places like
Jogi Panga and Naina Deviji.
DERA BABA BHARBHAG SINGH ( 42 Kms )
It is believed that some 320 years bank, Saint Baba Bharbhag Ji had
come here from Kartarpur and did penance. The place has famous
Gurudwara where thousands of Sikhs visit every year to receive the
blessings of Baba Bharbhag Singh, who was a saint and established this
Gurudwara which was earlier known as Dera. It is about 42 Kms from Una
Town and one can reach this place by bus directly or by train upto Una
or by air upto Chandigarh.
The Gurudwara is situated on the top of the hill and is surrounded by
Eucalyptus trees. The Gurudwara Sarai apart from PWD Rest House is
available for the night stay. A famous fair also known as Baba
Bharbhag Singh Mela is held here in the month of February in honour of
Bharbhag Singh Ji who was renowned for his magical powers. This fair
is held at the time of holi and is famous for the treatment of mental
problems and is unique fair of its kind in the country. A large number
of visitors suffering from mental problems come to this fair and are
treated at the Gurudwara by the priest called 'Masands'.
JOGI PANGA ( 16 Kms )
It is believed that Baba Atma Nand had set in penance at this place
also.
DERA BABA RUDRU ( 08 Kms )
There is Samadhi of Baba Rudra Nand Ji at this place, where the Baba
ji had done his penance.
SHIV BARI (GAGRET) ( 30 Kms )
Shiv temple believed to have been constructed by Saint Dronacharya.
Thousands of people visit here to offer prayers to the Shivlinga.
BHADARKALI TEMPLE ( 45 Kms )
The Bhadarkali temple of Bhadarkali Mata is considered to be very
ancient.
MAHADEV TEMPLE ( TALMERA )
Ancient temple of Shiv Mahadeva.
